Fifth Annual Rescue Reunion:
A Milestone!
For the fifth year in a row, North Texas Samoyed Rescue, Inc. said "thank you" to the families who have adopted our rescued Samoyeds over the years by holding a Rescue Reunion at the Stone Tables at White Rock Lake on Sunday, April 5, 2009. It was a perfect day for a "blizzard" of white fuzzies to converge on the pavilion, where they were treated to hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings, a peanut butter eating contest, hot dog dunking contest, rescue parade, and commemorative portraits in special NTSRI frames. Obedience Class, Anyone?
There's nothing more enjoyable than spending time with a Sammy who knows his manners! Whether you have a puppy or an older dog, it's never too late to train them.
NTSRI President Lynn Sluder offers obedience classes to anyone who would like to spend some special one-on-one time with their white fuzzy and teach them the basics of obedience at the same time. The classes are held on a per-request basis, at the Walnut Hill Recreation Center, usually on Sunday afternoons. They are free, but we do ask for a donation to Rescue, if possible. Barktoberfest
Was A Howling Good Time!
For the first time, North Texas Samoyed Rescue, Inc. participated in the "Barktoberfest" event in Fort Worth, sponsored by The Ticket radio station. Hundreds of people attended, most of whom were accompanied by their dogs. There was a costume contest for both humans and pets, obedience demonstrations (pictured above)representatives from dozens of vendors and rescue groups, and lots of fun for everyone. We're looking forward to participating again in 2010.
NTSRI participated in "Barktoberfest" in conjunction with North Texas Samoyed Fanciers, the AKC-affiliated breed club for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. It serves as NTSF's fulfillment of its commitment to recognize the AKC's Responsible Pet Ownership Day, when breed clubs all over the country hold events to teach the public about their breed and how to be a responsible owner.
